Yulia Tymoshenko proposes creating a network of laboratories in Ukraine

dsc_3278.jpgAll regions of Ukraine will have European-quality laboratories, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenok said in parliament on Tuesday.

"Every oblast should have a special laboratory where they can do high-volume analysis for individuals and medical facilities. That's why when the government allocated 50 million UAH we purchased 37 laboratories - one or two for each oblast, depending on population. These labs are already in the regions or being transported there. I think this is the first time in 18 years that a laboratory network has been created in Ukraine," the head of government said.

The prime minister emphasized that "we have all the means to make a laboratory-based flu diagnosis."

Tymoshenko noted that, as the European experience has shown, rapid tests for the H1N1 flu are not 100% conclusive "That's why Ukraine is following a different concept and performing lab analysis. This will be offered to our citizens," she added.
