Yulia Tymoshenko: we acted in the interest of the state and are not afraid of persecution

pr_b2490.jpgMembers of the Batkivshchyna Party that were in the previous government aren’t afraid of persecution because their work was guided by the interests of the state.

"Turchynov will probably be next, and I know that he will go without a shadow of fear because he knows in his heart, and he’s a believer, that what he did was for the country. I will also go if necessary. I won’t run and hide abroad like the Party of Regions did in 2005," Yulia Tymoshenko said today on Channel Ukraina.

The leader of the Batkivshchyna Party underscored that it is impossible for her to report on her work in government before Viktor Yanukovych, who stole the Mezhyhirya government residence from the state.

Yulia Tymoshenko pointed out that the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office has remained following the change in power in Ukraine. "The Prosecutor General was appointed back in 2007 when Yushchenko appointed Yanukovych prime minister, and the deal was that Yanukovych’s person would be appointed to this post. When I was prime minister in 2008-2009, the prosecutor general was Yanukovych’s friend, and he’s still there. If they had even the slightest hint that they could prove I violated even one law, believe me, they wouldn’t have waited until I was in opposition. The prosecutor general was their person and they still have him today."
