Yulia Tymoshenko’s team will implement judicial reform

konstityciyniy-sud-ukraini.jpgPresident candidate and current Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko wants to fundamentally reform the Ukrainian judicial system. She stated this during an evening broadcast on the Inter Channel.

She referenced the new law on amending the Constitution of Ukraine, which includes key stages of judicial reform.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes that, first and foremost, the Ukrainian judicial system must be accessible and transparent, in other words, people must know where and how to file complaints, etc. "Today people are being sent to administrative, economic or court of general jurisdiction, and they don’t know where they should be," she explained.

She also wants to eliminate corruption in the judicial branch. "We need to create disciplinary commissions made up of people who represent society, not officials, who watch each other’s backs," the Prime Minister explained.

She made special reference to the way judges are appointed. "Today judges are appointed by that very same corrupt lobby in parliament….and then he protects the interests of this mafia, not the people. Judges should be appointed in a different way," Yulia Tymoshenko said.
