Yulia Tymoshenko: Ukraine needs real heroes, not titles

_dsc2682.jpgOpposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes that patriots that during Soviet times were not afraid to openly declare their desire for Ukraine’s independence should serve as an example for today’s elite of how to protect Ukraine’s national interests.

"During the viche on March 9, we recalled how during the most difficult of times, the people who served Ukraine and wanted independence came openly to the monument to Taras Shevchenko despite the fact that they were repressed and faced being sent to a Soviet prison camp. These were real heroes, not like today’s, who are awarded titles of Heroes for treason, money or corrupt acts to benefit the country’s leaders. I would wish that our country’s elites start properly assessing situations, and not hide behind their interests and preferences," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

She is convinced that there is a true national-patriotic elite in Ukraine that is ready to continue the country’s democratic development. "They are our country’s hope that not everything Yanukovych has planned for Ukraine will work out. I will be with them in these difficult time and do everything I can."
