Yulia Tymoshenko: the Black Sea shelf will eventually be returned to the people
The movie "Despicable Me" was recently showing in theaters. In it, the protagonist wants to steal the moon. That is approximately the scale of the fraud surrounding the transfer of the Prykerchenska section of the Black Sea continental shelf to Vanco Prykerchenska. Yanukovych is giving billions of tons of Ukraine’s oil and gas reserves to a company that doesn’t even have enough authorized capital to buy a room in a communal apartment and was officially founded by four college kids. It’s clear that these students are a cover for Yanukovych’s insatiable associates – Firtash, Lyovochkin, Boyko and Khoroshkovsky.
If a settlement agreement is signed, Ukraine can forget about its Black Sea shelf for many years to come. Based on the terms of Vanco’s production agreement, Ukraine’s won’t see any real profit – monetary or resources – for the next 30 years.
The move has a happy ending – the thief turns out to be good and returns the moon. Ukraine is being run by evil thieves that don’t give anything back. But oil and gas last longer than Yanukovych’s term in office. The Black Sea shelf will be returned to the people eventually.
