Mykola Tomenko: elections have debunked all the Party of Regions’ myths

_dsc3017.jpgThe presidential elections have debunked the myths that the Party of Regions used during their campaign, one of the leaders of BYuT, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko has said.

"Despite the fact that the final results aren’t in, we can already say that several myths have been broken at the ballot box," Mykola Tomenko said today on Channel 5.

He noted that such myths include the ‘fantastic’ victory by Viktor Yanukovych's team over the current government. "If between the first and second round the Party of Regions strategy was a victory by at least 15%, then, based on the exit polls, 3-4%, to put it mildly, does not comply with such a strategy," Mykola Tomenko said.

"The second myth is the so-called public legitimacy of the future President. For the first time in recent election, we don’t have more than 50%," Mykola Tomenko said, noting that currently that figure is less than 49%.

And the third obvious myth, according to the deputy, is the fact that "even if we assume that Viktor Yanukovych will win the presidential election campaign, he will have the vote of a minority of oblasts of Ukraine: maximum 9 oblasts and city of Sevastopol. But Yulia Tymoshenko was supported by 16 obalsts and the capital of Ukraine," he said.
