Yulia Tymoshenko: Yanukovych can’t stop Ukraine’s advance towards the European community

pr_a4589.jpgFormer Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is urging EU politicians to not take into account the illegal trial against her when deciding on the signing of an association agreement with Ukraine.

“I appealed to the leaders of the European Union and said that they need to clearly separate Yanukovych and his associates from the people of Ukraine as an integral part of the European family. I asked that they not make the decision to sign an association agreement dependant on what is happening now with my personal fate because the signing of an association agreement is a historical event, a historical step that must be taken, not to mark Yanukovych, but to once and for all cut off our path to the past,” Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists during a break in her trial today.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes there is no alternative to Ukraine’s unification with the European community. “I’m confident that no Yanukovychs and their backsliding on democracy, their corruption and political repression can stop Ukraine’s historical advance into the European community,” she added.
