Government to provide families of the disabled with cars

The Cabinet has allocated funds to provide cars to 214 families with two or more disabled members.

"Unfortunately, due to the crisis, we weren't able to provide everyone on the list with cars. Therefore the government decided to first help one of the most unprotected categories - families with two or more disabled persons. They're lives are most difficult. I'm sure this will improve the social protection of these people," Minister of Labor and Social Policy Lyudmyla Denysova said regarding the government order.

Money for new cars will come from two sources. The labor ministry has said that part of the money, 1.218 million hryvnias, will come from the special fund of the state budget for financing the renewed program to provide disabled persons with cars. The program was renewed thanks to the government initiated Law "On amending the Law of Ukraine 'On the state budget for 2009."

Another 6.6 million hryvnias will come from a special account of the Fund for the Social Protection of Invalids.

"We can't give them back their health, but we must do everything we can to make their life easier," Lyudmyla Denysova said.
