Yulia Tymoshenko: Batkivshchyna will fight back against raids of its offices

At today’s party congress Batkivshchyna approved changes to the party charter.

"This was a technical congress during which we following all the proper procedures and amended the party charter. We made the charter stronger in order to have a weapon against government raids of our offices," Yulia Tymoshenko said today on Channel 5.

As during the presidential elections, today many political opponents are using techniques to weaken her party, she said, adding that the Presidential Administration has issued instructions for Batkivshchyna offices in the regions to be raided.

"Yanukovych instructed the head of his Administration, Mr. Lyovochkin, to create fake party branches of Batkivshchyna in the regions and enlist fake party members and hand-picked leaders. The police are now giving out stamps and doctored party certificates to these fake leaders. This is happening in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Kyiv and Luhansk oblasts, and all on orders from Yanukovych. They want the president’s phantoms to run under our party’s name," said Yulia Tymoshenko.
