Yulia Tymoshenko: today’s students are our pride and future

Dear friends!

I welcome you with the start of the new school year and a wonderful holiday – Day of Knowledge.

It is dear to everyone who is sending their children to school. It lives in our photo albums and memories – September 1st, when we crossed the school threshold and started on an incredible journey of learning and discovery. We all look back on our school years as the foundation for our development and achievements. That is perhaps what is special about this holiday.

And it truly is first class for the thousands of children who will come to their "first" class. This will be a time of many firsts for them: an introduction to teachers and friends, first marks and successes, first introduction to the adult world.

For me Day of Knowledge is filled with wonderful memories of smiling and happy children, teary-eyed parents and bouquets of flowers. And while it’s a bit sad that the summer vacation is over, only constant self-improvement makes a person a person and fills our lives.

I wish all those who today sat behind a school desk or in an auditorium to be inquisitive and persistent in acquiring new knowledge. I believe that today’s students are the pride of Ukraine, its present and future.

And I wish teachers and parents wisdom and patience. May this high calling and life’s wisdom give you the inspiration in your noble mission to teach and educate a new generation of Ukrainians.
