Yulia Tymoshenko: new government should continue to pay Oshchadbank depositors

_dsc3011.jpgLeader of the united democratic opposition Yulia Tymoshenko has announced that BYuT will demand that the ruling coalition maintain in the State Budget for 2010 expenses to continue paying compensation to Soviet Oshchadbank depositors.

"We will insist that they continue to compensate Soviet Oshchadbank depositors. I was the first prime minister to pay 8 million people the first tranche. We weren’t able to pay 2 million others because parliament blocked changes to the budget," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

BYuT will also insist that the 2010 State Budget include an increase in financial assistance for Heroes of Ukraine, veterans of WWII and other military operations. "During the crisis we increased support for veterans and now that the crisis is coming to an end and the economy is slowly recovering, we need to maintain these payments. The government must value true Ukrainian heroes."
