Cabinet provides housing to families in Sevastopol

_dsc3597.jpgThanks to the government’s efforts, 53 families in Sevastopol have received keys to new apartments.

"These families wouldn’t have moved into this 116 apartment high-rise had that government not paid 20 million hryvnias to purchase them," said Minister of Labor and Social Policy Lyudmyla Denisova.

The Minister explained that the housing is being given to citizens as part of the government program to overcome the crisis in the construction industry. "According to the agreement signed between the government and construction company, the buildings were to be completed by December 25, 2009. They fulfilled their obligations, as did the government."

As reported, according to the plans of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Mortgage Institutions will purchase 5700 apartments at a cost of 1.531 billion hryvnias for people who legally require improved living conditions.

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has promised that the government will continue implementing this program in 2010 to ensure that benefits recipients who have been on the waiting list for 30-40 years are provided with housing.
