Opposition will force government to complete talks on Ukraine’s political association with the EU

pr_b3806.jpgLeader of the united democratic opposition Yulia Tymoshenko has said that she will monitor the progress of talks between the new Ukrainian government and EU on an association agreement.

"Most important is for the association and free trade zone agreements to be signed between Ukraine and the EU. We will monitor this process to ensure that that preparations move forward and these agreements are signed," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the free trade zone agreement will be one of the most important steps for strengthening the national economy.

She also said that the opposition will oppose plans by the new government for Ukraine to join other international integration structures. "One of our strategies will be to prevent Ukraine from joining any international groups that conflict with Ukraine’s European integration strategy, limit our sovereignty and rights as an independent state. We will monitor this very closely and one of our areas of activities will be to protect Ukraine’s independence during the period of rather difficult control by Yanukovych and his team," Yulia Tymoshenko concluded.
