BYuT will challenge results of presidential elections in the courts

dsc_2081.jpgAccording to People’s Deputy Serhiy Sobolev (BYuT), BYuT will challenge the results of the presidential elections in the courts.

"We will defend in the courts the right of citizens to fair and transparent elections. The 3% difference between the candidates was the result of fraud in some polling stations and there is evidence of this," Serhiy Sobolev said today in the Verkhovna Rada.

According to him, BYuT will also demand the repeal of the February 3 law that amended the presidential election law. "We can’t allow amendments to be introduced to favor a particular candidate who can’t win fairly," he added.

Serhiy Sobolev also proposed adding to the agenda of the session of the Verkhovna Rada the draft Law on amending the Law "On elections of the President of Ukraine", which had been discussed in the relevant parliamentary committee.

As reported, on February 3, first deputy head of BYuT Andriy Kozhemyakin read a statement issued by BYuT, which stated: "There was flagrant violation of all rules. There were no legitimate reasons for the consideration of the bill at the extraordinary session of parliament on February 3. The methods by which Lavrynovych’s bill was adopted, clearly indicate that the bill was not written to improve the electoral process, but to create an unlimited field for large-scale fraud, which will distort the choice of Ukrainian citizens."
