Serhiy Vlasenko: I appeal to the slaves in robes: remember that you are a court

pr_a3173.jpgYulia Tymoshenko's defense will ask the court to allow the press into the courtroom for the hearing in the Yulia Tymoshenko case over gas agreements signed with Russia in 2009.

"We will now file the first motion to admit the press, and following the reaction of the court to this motion, we will see whether any expectations for an open, transparent and understandable to the public process can be fulfilled," Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko said before the hearing.

At the same time Serhiy Vlasenko expressed doubt about the impartiality of the court to this motion. "I am convinced that there will be no such permission. A live broadcast will not be allowed and everything will be done so that hired people can sit in the courtroom. Students about whom all of the media wrote yesterday, will come for college credit and some money to shout slogans against Tymoshenko, including directly in the courtroom," he said.

"I would like to remind all the media representatives, the day before yesterday a man who considers himself the president of Ukraine said that he will ensure a public trial of Tymoshenko. Today you can already see the publicity according to Yanukovych. This is when there are barriers and people are not allowed in, when in the courtroom there are 20 paid guys in identical shirts who have been there since last night. You see that you, the media, are not allowed in."

"This is a sham, a process that the current government wants to turn the Tymoshenko's trial into. We have no hope that this is an honest and fair court, which is ready to hear the case objectively and comprehensively. I almost never use such words, but I cannot call these people my colleagues. This is a real gang of criminals. Some people wear prosecutor's uniforms, while others sit in black gowns. I appeal to you, slaves in gowns- remember that you are a court," said Serhiy Vlasenko.
