Government establishes legal status of the zone adjacent to Ukraine
The document will give Ukraine the chance to implement customs, fiscal, immigration and sanitary control in the adjacent zone, and also have the rights and responsibilities concerning archaeological and historical sites on the sea floor in the adjacent zone.
In addition, the draft law is aimed at harmonizing Ukrainian maritime legislation to the legislation of other Black Sea States and other States Parties to the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
It should be noted that the legal status of the adjacent zone is defined in national legislation of 83 coastal states of the 155 States Parties to the Convention.
