verkchovna-rada-1.jpgThe Cabinet of Ministers has approved a government order outlining a civil protection plan for 2010. The document aims to ensure that civil protection agencies have everything they need to do their work, organize training for evacuation services, etc.

The plan calls for measures to protect forests from fires, preparations for ice, storms and high water in 2010, and create an emergency assistance system in cities where Euro-2012 will be held.

According to the document, financing will come from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and other central and local executive bodies.

Central and local executive bodies have until December 23, 2009 to develop sectoral and regional plans for civil protection in 2010 based on their functions.

The Ministry of Emergency Situation will be monitoring implementation of the plan and is to inform the Cabinet about its progress by February 19, 2011.
