Yulia Tymoshenko: political independence can’t exist without energy independence

pr_b8931.jpgDear Miners!

I would like to congratulate you on your professional holiday, wish you happiness, health and all the best!

Your work is very important and necessary for Ukraine, because there can be no true political independence without energy independence.

I don’t need experts to tell me about the problems that miners face, because my entire time in power was dedicated to ensuring that you – people with such a difficult profession – are socially protected and feel the state’s concern.

Several years ago I went down a mine shaft for the first time and understood why miners say that those who haven’t been underground haven’t seen the sun. I was shocked by what I saw and said that all politicians should do this to understand that your work requires extraordinary effort and love to one’s family and homeland.

I also recommend that the current government do this so that they understand that Miners Day isn’t just one day a year, but that we’re talking about the life of thousands of people, their families, and the survival of small mining towns. And we need to remember this every day.

When I spoke with you, I felt protected. They say that miners are tough people. This is true. But you are sincere people and true friends, and you don’t betray those with whom you work side by side. That’s why the orders of Miners Glory that you gave me are the most important in my life.

Thank you for your hard labor. I believe that the time will come when your European colleagues will be envious of Ukrainian miners.

Ukraine is proud of you!

Sincerely, Yulia Tymoshenko
