Yulia Tymoshenko will defend Ukraine’s gas interests

pr_b2837.jpgAs leader of the united democratic opposition, Yulia Tymoshenko will defend Ukraine’s interests in the gas sector from encroachment by President Viktor Yanukovych.

"First of all, I won’t let him create a gas transport consortium. The gas transport system will remain under state ownership and will make Ukraine strong on the global arena," Yulia Tymoshenko said.

Secondly, she won’t allow Viktor Yanukovych to give RosUkrEnergo co-owner Dmytro Firtash 11 billion cubic meters of natural gas that belong to the state. "If he tries to take away 11 billion cubic meters of gas that apparently belong to RosUkrEnergo but were returned to the state, I want him to know that we will fight to hold him accountable for taking away the country’s strategic gas reserves," she emphasized.

"And thirdly, if they even tries to privatize the Black Sea shelf, Sakhalin deposits, and other strategic deposits of oil and gas that goes against the state interests, which, incidentally, will make it impossible to preserve the price for gas – he will have to deal with the opposition," Yulia Tymoshenko added.
