Yulia Tymoshenko undergoing treatment at Berlin’s Charité hospital

The hospital physicians have started their examinations of Yulia Tymoshenko and ordered the preliminary therapeutic measures.

"Yulia Tymoshenko is doing as well as can be expected given the circumstances resulting from her history of herniated disks and vertebral joint inflammation. We will now determine the best therapy for her back pain," Prof. Dr. Karl Max Einhaupl, the Charité's Board Chairman, said.

According to the physicians, her pain symptoms will initially be treated conservatively with analgesics. Yulia Tymoshenko is also receiving physical therapy.

Over the days to come, specialists in the fields of orthopedics, physical medicine, neurology, in addition to neurosurgery and neuroradiology will be carrying out further diagnostic and therapeutic measures. Charité's medical experts will then decide whether or not the patient will require surgery.

Physicians from Charité began treating Yulia Tymoshenko at the Kharkiv prison hospital in February 2012 and later offered to treat her in Germany.
