Cabinet will simplify system for issuing licenses in the renewable energy sector

cabmin.jpgThe Cabinet of Ministers will harmonize Ukrainian legislation with EU legislation in the field of renewable energy. The corresponding government bill has already been reviewed by the parliamentary fuel and energy committee and recommended for approval to the parliament.

The bill would simplify the system of licenses in the field of renewable energy in line with European legislation, which will promote the development of alternative and renewable energy sources, increase the country’s energy security, cut reliance on imported energy, and improve the environmental situation in the country.

The development of alternative and renewable energy is part of Yulia Tymoshenko’s Presidential campaign program.

According to the program, "Starting on 1 January 2010, companies that produce energy from renewable sources – water, wind, sunlight, wood, straw, biomass, etc. – will be given tax exemptions."
