Yulia Tymoshenko: during the local elections we will form a shield against Yanukovych’s crimes

Yulia Tymoshenko is urging everyone to use their right to vote in the local elections on October 31, so as not to allow the Party of Regions to falsify the will of the people.

"Our slogan for these local elections is: all patriots of Ukraine – go vote!" Yulia Tymoshenko said today during a rally honoring Ukrainian Independence Day, held by the Taras Shevchenko monument tin Kyiv.

"Today our response to the government is to keep them out of our communities, to get everyone to vote and to form a protective shield against Yanukovych and his circle so that local communities don’t have to work for their anti-Ukrainian interests."

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, one of the techniques the Party of Regions plans to use during the elections is to create small parties and blocs that will minimize votes.

She also believes that a mixed electoral system will allow the Party of Regions to abuse their administrative resources.

"The people have a weapon, not many, but one of them is the ballot, a voice and the ability to tell the authorities what they think," said Yulia Tymoshenko.
