Batkivshchyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko has called on the Verkhovna Rada to hold consultations on the formation of a new parliamentary coalition and as a consequence a new government that will implement a plan of urgent and necessary changes.
“The parliament has to not only decide the date of the inauguration of the new President of Ukraine but also whether it will stand with the President to change the government on the basis of a new coalition and create a plan of those changes that the country urgently needs,” Yulia Tymoshenko said while addressing parliament.
The politician stressed that the Batlivshchyna team will support any draft resolution on the date of the inauguration and urged parliament to decide the matter as quickly as possible. She also said the in the recent election 73% of the population confirmed that “they don’t want for even one day longer to put up with what was done to the country and its people over the past 5 years.”
“In the 5 years of the current government the GDP fell 36.5% in foreign currency terms, all social indicators – from salaries to wages – fell, heat and gas tariffs increased twelve fold, the Ukrainian economy and middle class were destroyed. People don’t want to put up with
this for another day longer.” she said
The head of the Batkivshchyna faction believes parliament should become “part of the changes and move forward,” otherwise parliament has no right to exist.
“I believe that this parliament is capable of something and we can do a lot for Ukraine and its people. Therefore, we urge all factions to consult on the formation of a new coalition, a new government, and a national commission to investigate high-level crime by the previous government,” said the politician. .
