Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko says her faction has prepared a number of fundamental amendments to the president’s bill on the Higher Anti-Corruption Court, which is unacceptable in its current version.

“The bill proposed by the president on the anti-corruption court will give Ukraine nothing, because de facto it leaves the court as the president’s private property. There is no need for it at all in this format,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during a briefing after the coordinating council of faction and parliamentary committee heads.

According to the parliamentarian, the essence of the bill is to create an anti-corruption court that is independent of politicians and the leaders of the state. Therefore, Batkivshchyna has prepared a number of fundamental amendments to the president’s bill.

“Batkivshchyna supports the creation of an Anti-Corruption Court, but our amendments will ensure that it is independent of the president and his inner circle, as well as other political and executive structures of Ukraine,” the Batkivshchyna leader said.

“The international community is proposing that an Anti-Corruption Court be created that is independent of the president, prime minister, parliament and even the prosecutor’s office, then the NABU will give all its investigations to an independent Anti-Corruption Court instead of the corrupt judicial system,” Yulia Tymoshenko added.
