Head of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko has announced that her party took 31.6% of the vote in the elections on December 24 in 51 amalgamated territorial communities, securing 268 local deputy mandates.

“According to all the protocols with wet seals, the Batkivshchyna Party beat out the other parties by a big margin in the local elections with 31.6% of votes. The Petro Poroshenko Bloc Solidarity received 19.4% of votes and the Agrarian Party 13.8%,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during a press conference in Kyiv.

The politician noted that the other parties received significantly fewer votes: Nash Krai – 7%, Oleh Liashko’s Radical Party – 6.6%, UKROP – 5.5%, Samopomich – 2.8%, Opposition Bloc – 2.7%, People’s Front – 2.2%, Svoboda – 1.2%, Civic Position – 1.1%.

According to the results, 268 deputies from Batkivshchyna were elected to local councils, 165 from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, 117 from the Agrarian Party, and 60 deputies from Nash Krai. 80% of the deputies elected represent parties.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted that Batkivshchyna improved its result by 3.5% compared to the last elections, increasing its advantage over the Petro Poroshenko Bloc to 12%.

“The results in the elections indicate the real level of support in society for political parties in Ukraine,” she said.

The head of the Batkivshchyna Party also stressed that the elections were held in almost all parts of the country and are therefore representatives of the level of support for each political party. She also urged Ukrainian society to ignore the false ratings that are being used to show a supposedly better result for the president’s party

“It isn’t true when they say that there is no alternative in the country to the current president. Evidence of this is the latest local elections, in which Batkivshchyna received 31.6% of votes compared to 19.4% for the Petro Poroshenko Bloc. The difference is significant, and the leadership is clear,” she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko also said that the elections were held in violation of electoral law and if the authorities hadn’t used administrative resources the Batkivshchyna Party’s results would have been much higher.

“We cannot say these elections were honest, free and democratic. I can with full responsibility say that there have never been such repressive, violent, dishonest, bribed and falsified elections in Ukraine as those being held by the current president. Batkivshchyna would have had a better results if not for the terror organized on all levels,” the parliamentarian said.

Local elections were held on December 24 to 5 city, 46 village and town councils of amalgamated territorial communities in 17 oblasts of Ukraine. The Batkivshchyna Party nominated 998 candidates for deputy and 22 candidates for head of amalgamated communities.
