Country’s leaders should be brought to justice for IMF memorandum

17:51 06.02.2017

Batkivshchyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko says the government-initiated new draft Memorandum of Cooperation with the IMF includes provisions on the sale of land, increase in retirement age, utility tariffs, etc. She believes the country’s leaders should be brought to justice, rather than blaming international financial organizations.

“This new Memorandum with the IMF was initiated by the Ukrainian government, not the IMF. The draft Memorandum, which allows the sale of land, increases the retirement age, reduces people’s incomes, and much of what is destroying the country, comes from Petro Poroshenko, Volodymyr Groysman, and Arseniy Yatseniuk. They are the initiators of this policy,” Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists after today’s Coordinating Council meeting.

The Batkivshchyna leader said the officials should be held responsible for such unprofessional policies.

“The clans running the country are demanding another increase in utility tariffs and saving budget resources not for people, but for the corruption that they are organizing very well. We need to bring to justice corrupt and unprofessional officials, not blame international financial organizations,” she said.
