Head of the Batkivshchyna faction Yulia Tymoshenko has called on people’s deputies to vote for her faction’s draft law №8107 that would prevent the “black sale” of Ukraine’s gas transport system (GTS).
“Ukraine’s GTS is being taken away – will parliament again ignore this? I urge all faction heads to sign this law and prevent any manipulations with the Ukrainian GTS,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during today’s meeting of the coordination board of heads of factions and committees.
During a press briefing, the parliamentarian explained that management of the GTS, which is worth 300 billion euros and brings 3 billion dollars to the Ukrainian budget annually, is being transferred behind the backs of the Ukrainian people. She believes that high-ranking Ukrainian officials are involved.
“They plan to hand over management to transnational fraudsters. I am convinced the president has his own stake in this,” she said.
Yulia Tymoshenko said the Batkivshchyna faction will insist that parliament pass their bill.
“We will try to pass a law prohibiting the transfer of the GTS to outside management, concession or privatization because this is strategic state property. We will demand that parliament vote for this legislation,” the people’s deputy said.
