Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has met with former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst, who is currently the director of the Atlantic Council’s Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center.
They discussed the situation in Ukraine, focusing on issues related to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the help needed from the international community to bring peace.
Yulia Tymoshenko thanked the US for it support and stressed the need to continue sanctions against Russia until occupied Donbas and annexed Crimea are returned to Ukraine.
“The task for Ukraine and the whole civilized world is to stop Putin’s aggression against Ukraine and liberate Crimea and Donbas from Russian occupation,” the Batkivshchyna Party leader said.
She called for joint action to increase economic and political pressure on the Kremlin through sanctions that would force Russian to end the war, and strong military cooperation to modernize the Ukrainian army, including creating an effective air defense system, reviving the naval forces and strengthening ground forces.
“Liberating Ukrainian territory from occupation is a top priority for me and my team,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.
Ambassador John Herbst stressed that the US will continue to support Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
They also discussed reforms in Ukraine and the fight against corruption.
