Yulia Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna faction is urging the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities to cancel resolution №972 on introducing RAB-tariffs for oblast energy companies, as it will lead to higher electricity prices.
“RAB-tariffs will mean another increase in electricity tariffs. Batkivshchyna demands the cancellation of the National Commission’s resolution №972 introducing RAB-tariffs,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during the coordinating council of faction and parliamentary committee heads.
She said that RAB-tariffs introduce an unacceptable additional 12.5% mark-up on electricity tariffs.
“They say the mark-up is to pay for the modernization of power grids, but they don’t say that electricity tariffs have always included an investment component for modernization and reconstruction of power grids,” she said during a briefing.
“This is 30 billion hryvnias that President Petro Poroshenko and National Commission Chairman Dmytro Vovk will put in their corrupt pockets annually,” she said.
On January 10, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities published a resolution on introducing RAB-tariffs for oblast energy companies that is supposed to encourage the oblast companies to cut costs and modernize networks, but in reality introduces corrupt schemes to enrich Ukrainian high-level officials. New electricity tariffs could be introduced as early as April.
