Batkivshchyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko has called on deputies to urgently consider draft law No. 2182 on the all-Ukrainian referendum on the people’s initiative, as well as draft law No. 2183 on the prohibition of the sale of agricultural land without holding a national referendum.
“Firstly, I call for the immediate adoption of the law on referendum by popular initiative, as the President promised. Secondly, a national referendum must be announced to listen to the opinion of people whether they want to sell agricultural land or not,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during the meeting of the conciliation council of heads of factions and parliamentary committees.
The politician also called for parliamentary hearings to be held with the participation of Ukrainian farmers to discuss the introduction of the agricultural land market.
“There is no more important an issue than the fate of agricultural land. What is proposed in the bill submitted to the Verkhovna Rada is contrary to the national interests of Ukraine, and if we go down this adventurous path, we will never correct it,” she warned.
