Head of the Batkivshchyna faction Yulia Tymoshenko says the Verkhovna Rada during the May 22-25 plenary week plans to consider a number of corrupt bills that will have a negative effect on the socioeconomic situation of Ukrainians.
“We counted 8 lobbied bills that contain corruption, abuse and actions against the national interests of Ukraine,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during a press briefing today.
According to the politician, one of these bills is №8159, which provides tax exemptions to companies that produce lithium.
“This bill is being lobbied by Mr. Kononenko, who is President Poroshenko’s corrupt pillar, and he is freeing enterprises that were given lithium deposits from paying income tax,” she said.
According to the parliamentarian, another unacceptable bill is №7306 that would amend the Customs Code of Ukraine and effectively cancel the state duty on a number of goods, including “palm oil and dairy products that contain palm oil, lobster and crayfish tails, strong alcoholic drinks such as whiskey and cognac, and also remove taxes from drugs that contain heroin and cocaine.”
“Who in the Presidential Administration is planning a huge party with cocaine, heroine, lobster tails and alcoholic drinks? This is money that won’t be going to the budget. This is how they create tax lagoons for themselves,” the politician said.
The head of the Batkivshchyna faction was incensed that meanwhile additional duties and taxes were being put on baby food and baby products.
Yulia Tymoshenko also said that with bill №6049 people who leased their shares of agricultural land will “de facto through various mechanisms becomes slaves of the tenants.”
“These people will not have any rights, will not influence the process, the the people leasing this land will become their slave owners. This bill is being lobbied by the large agrarian lobby that wants to remove land owners from any influence,” she said.
The politician was also critical of bill №6677D on the creation of private pension funds.
“They plan to create private pension funds, take money from pensioners, and then the owners of these funds will simply disappear with people’s money. This technology has been prepared,” she said.
Yulia Tymoshenko also said she opposes bill №8157 on the National Bureau of Financial Security of Ukraine.
“This new power structure, the National Bureau of Financial Security of Ukraine, gives them the right to tap citizens’ phones without a decision of the court, collect information from correspondence, and other things related to the private life of ordinary citizens,” the politician said.
“The draft law gives the Bureau the power to cooperate confidentially with physical persons, use covert and overt staff and non-staff workers to follow every Ukrainian,” she added.
