Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko says her faction plans to appeal to NABU over corruption with state debt obligations.
“We are appealing to NABU: a pyramid is being built around debt obligations and the country is being robbed of billions of hryvnias,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during the coordinating council of parliament faction and committee leaders.
The parliamentarian explained that the government is planning more external borrowing, while the previous $3 billion was borrowed at an unacceptably high 7%, which is “destroying the national interests of Ukraine” and was also done corruptly to enrich top officials.
“They used this three billion dollars not for economic development or the army, but on speculative operations to repurchase these same obligations at 17%,” she explained.
Yulia Tymoshenko also said the national debt is unacceptably high and threatens Ukraine’s national security.
“The government didn’t report that state debt is more than 82% of GDP. This is a matter of national security. For every person, including infants, the state debt is 65,000 hryvnias,” the politician explained.
