Batkivshchyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes the government’s so-called medical reform will have a negative effect on medical care and requires a fundamental review.
“Today every first-line doctor – so-called family doctors – have to independently conclude more than two thousand contracts with patients. I want to ask: in what country are they doing medical reform? And don’t they understand that one doctor can not serve two thousand people in one year?” Yulia Tymoshenko said during a briefing after the coordinating council of parliament faction and committee leaders.
According to the politician, these contracts must also be in electronic format and properly processed, which is impossible.
“Show me where doctors in rural areas can find the electronic support of this process? Most of them don’t know how to use a computer, and where will they even find a computer?” she asked.
The parliamentarian also said that allocating budget funds for first-line doctors and not second-line doctors – specialists – will have negative financial consequences for the population.
“All budget funds will be spent on first-line doctors – so-called family doctors – and then the services of professional doctors – cardiologists, orthopedists, infectious disease doctors – will be paid out of people’s pockets,” the Batkivshchyna leader said.
Yulia Tymoshenko stressed that this reform is unacceptable and requires urgent attention and control.
“Batkivshchyna is studying how medical reform is being implemented in each district and settlement, because doctors are shouting about what is happening with medical services. To change this we need to remove the people who sanctioned this and voted for it. Otherwise, if this medical reform continues we will lose a third of the nation,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.
