Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko called on the Verkhovna Rada to support the extension of the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land due to the risk of loss of territory and lack of necessary legislative mechanisms for the functioning of the land market and proper conditions for the functioning of farms.
“I appeal to all deputies to vote for the extension of the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land. This is a very significant vote for the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine,” Yulia Tymoshenko said while addressing the parliament.
According to the parliamentarian, the sale of agricultural land while Ukraine is at war is inadmissible because of the risk of loss of territory.
“The sale of agricultural land while Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea are occupied says that you are giving the right to legally take ownership of Ukrainian land on legitimate terms determined by this parliament,” she said.
Yulia Tymoshenko also stressed that necessary conditions must be created before opening of the land market, including state support and conditions necessary for the proper functioning of farms.
“Until we create family farms, and until we put agricultural land into the strategy in which all agrarian states live, you do not have the right to legalize monopolists owning millions of hectares of land, including the president’s family, and legalize the corrupt system with land,” said the parliamentarian.
The politician also warned that if the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land is not extended, the Batkivshchyna team will inform Ukrainian society which deputies are “defending Ukraine and its interests,” and who acts contrary to national interests.
“Every vote against the extension of the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land will be brought to the people, and they will know the enemies of Ukraine and our future,” concluded Yulia Tymoshenko.
