Batkivshchyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko has called on the new President of Ukraine to initiate the creation of a National Commission to investigate corruption by the old authorities and invited the Verkhovna Rada to jointly implement the relevant initiative.
“I advise the new President of Ukraine to establish a National Commission to investigate corruption by the old government and make it a supranational body to promptly bring the perpetrators to justice. Our team is ready for constructive cooperation and invites all others to do the same,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during today’s meeting of the conciliation council of faction leaders and chairmen of parliamentary committees.
According to the politician, Ukrainians are demanding that former President Poroshenko and his criminal environment, which destroyed the country for 5 years, be held responsible, but relying on the current system of law enforcement is futile. The parliamentarian was also outraged that the current authorities are trying to pass corrupt decisions through parliament.
“Again the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada is filled with lobbied bills which they want to pass in the final week before the change of president. This is unacceptable,” she said indignantly, and once again stressed the need for parliament to consider such important decisions for Ukrainian society as the draft laws on temporary investigative commissions, the impeachment of the President and the new Electoral Code.
