Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko says the cost of natural gas for the population, taking into account the cost of production and profit, should be 3.55 hryvnias per cubic meter, not the current 7.7 hryvnias per cubic meter.
“If you analyze the accounting of UkrTransGas, the cost of natural gas, including wages, material and other costs, depreciation, transportation, rent, as well as profitability of 30%, the cost to the population should be 3.55 hryvnias per cubic meter, instead of the 7.7 hryvnias that it is now. People can’t afford to pay the unfairly high gas prices, and today they owe 65 billion hryvnias for utilities,” Yulia Tymoshenko said on the program “Voice of the People” on channel 112. Ukraina.
According to the politician, the new President of Ukraine can influence the situation in three ways First, he can have the control and revision office under the Presidential Administration conduct an audit at Naftogaz. Second, according to the decision of the court in Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawsuit on the illegality of the decisions of the Groysman Government to raise the price of gas and the illegality of the decision to set gas prices, the President can veto the relevant resolutions.
“The tariffs should be established by a specially created body, the NERC,” she said, adding that the President also has the constitutional right to appoint two new members to the NERC.
“I really look forward to such decisions from the new President. The heating season will start in October, and there should be a normal and adequate price for gas and heat,” said Yulia Tymoshenko.
The politician added that reducing tariffs will increase the purchasing power of Ukrainian families and increase support for the Ukrainian economy.
The parliamentarian also said that cooperation with the IMF can be effective without negatively affecting the interests of Ukrainians if the right tactic of cooperation is chosen.
“It is possible to cooperate with the IMF without destroying the budgets of Ukrainian families and making Ukraine one of the ten poorest countries,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.
