Batkivshchyna Party Leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes that defense industry enterprises must be given the opportunity to trade independently, provided adequate credit and protected against inspections and bribes.
According to her, Ukrainian defense industry companies have many problems that if solved would provide rapid development of the industry and make Ukraine competitive in the world.
“The first step the government must take is to abolish the imperative need to trade with our defense industry enterprises through the semi-state intermediary Ukrspetsexport, which collects finances from enterprises but does not allow them to trade normally and enter world markets. Enterprises should have the right to trade independently,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during the XI International Aviation and Space Salon “Aviasvit-XXI.”
According to the Batkivshchyna Party Leader, the monopolist’s markup of up to 35% is too high for producers, forcing them to spend on intermediary services while underpaying employees, not investing enough in scientific development and expanding production.
Secondly, there is insufficient working capital for the development of market participants.
“Even successful companies that trade in international markets can not take out loans and develop,” the parliamentarian said.
Thirdly, in her opinion, endless inspections with demands for bribes hinder the work of the industry.
“The state should not interfere and instead create conditions for development, proper lending, and sufficient defense orders,” said the politician.
The Batkivshchyna Leader also noted that issues of defense and security, a peace strategy and strong army will be discussed at the Security Forum within the framework of the New Course for Ukraine, to be held in Kyiv in late October.
