The Verkhovna Rada is a gathering of corrupt officials who act against Ukrainian interests

Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko says the pro-government parliamentary majority is sabotaging the consideration of draft resolution № 3216 on lifting the gas price increase for the population and introducing a moratorium on further price increases to protect the corrupt interests of oligarchs and clans and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko personally.

“The mafia is sabotaging consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of the draft resolution on lifting the gas price increase and introducing a moratorium. Unfortunately, the head of the parliament, Andriy Parubiy, refused to give the issue to the committee and put it on the agenda, although this is the duty of the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada,” Yulia Tymoshenko said on the program “Podrobytsi” on channel Inter.

The politician said that six parliamentary factions and groups, except for the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, signed a draft resolution giving Ukrainian gas to Ukrainians, canceling the government decision to raise the price of gas by 23.5%, and introducing a moratorium on further increases in gas tariffs; however, this issue has not yet been put to the session hall for a vote.

“Ukraine is a parliamentary-presidential republic, and the decision of the parliament should be binding for each government. However, two-thirds of the parliament are representatives of the clan-oligarchic system, and they control the government, and the president is their head. They are making huge money on excessive tariffs for the population, and the corrupt profits are protected by both the parliament, the president and the government,” the parliamentarian said indignantly.

“This is not a parliament, but a gathering of corrupt officials,” the parliamentarian said.

The head of the Batkivshchyna faction stressed that the unlawful and unjustified 23.5% increase in gas tariffs will lead to higher tariffs for heat and hot water, while the draft state budget for 2019 provides for a significant reduction in the volume of housing and communal subsidies.

“Most people are in despair, because in the draft budget for 2019 subsidies for housing and communal services are reduced by 22%. This is a blow to every Ukrainian,” she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko added that the Batkivshchyna faction decided not to support other issues in parliament until the demands of their faction and other factions and deputy groups were met.

“We will do everything we can to cancel the increase in gas prices. And after the election, the new president will revise the relevant provisions and Ukrainian gas will belong to Ukrainians, an adequate gas price will be set, and everyone involved in unlawful acts by corrupt officials will be held responsible under the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the politician concluded.
