Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has informed that the Verkhovna Rada, at the insistence of a number of people’s deputies, in particular of the Batkivshchyna faction, will consider draft resolutions on the establishment of a commission to investigate the murder of Kateryna Handziuk and attacks on Ukrainian activists, as well as the abolition of the gas tariff hike for the population and the introduction of a moratorium on increasing gas prices.
“After a joint meeting of the heads of parliamentary factions, it was decided that the first issue would be a vote on a draft resolution on the establishment of the commission to investigate the murder of Kateryna Handziuk and attacks against Ukrainian activists,” Yulia Tymoshenko said while answering questions from journalists in parliament.
According to her, the commission will be headed by People’s Deputy Boryslav Bereza, who “will be able to conduct an objective investigation,” and represent deputies of all factions, and non-aligned deputies.
“I think this composition will allow to objectively investigate the murder of Kateryna Handziuk and the attacks on public activists. After all, we, as deputies, should protect young people who are at the barricades for a democratic Ukraine without corruption when forces under the leadership of President Poroshenko are massacring public activists who oppose corruption, abuse of power and lack of freedom of speech,” she said.
According to the head of the Batkivshchyna faction, the leaders of parliamentary factions also agreed to consider a draft resolution to abolish the increase in natural gas prices for the population.
“The decision was registered with signatures of all the factions except the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko, and the struggle for canceling the gas price increase will begin. There is every chance that it will pass,” said the politician.
“We also demanded a vote on the draft resolution to provide the population with Ukrainian gas, and a moratorium on increasing gas prices for the population,” she said, stressing that Batkivshchyna will not support other issues until these draft resolutions are voted on.
