Presidential candidate and Batkivshchyna Party Leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said that President Petro Poroshenko, under the cover of patriotic slogans, is “fulfilling all the terms of the Kremlin.”
“He made Viktor Medvedchuk Ukraine’s negotiator. Would this have been possible if they were strangers? Never!” Yulia Tymoshenko said on the program “Right to Power” on channel 1+1.
The politician recalled that Viktor Medvedchuk is proposing a plan to give autonomy to Donbas, thus effectively fulfilling the Kremlin’s demands.
“Donbas is our territory, our land, just like Crimea is Ukraine,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.
The parliamentarian recalled that the Verkhovna Rada supported a law giving special status to the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, giving them the right to appoint power structures and resolve issues independently of Ukraine.
“In essence, this law gave them autonomy. Behind the back of the Ukrainian people, negotiations are being held on our surrender and they plan at the expense of Ukraine to regulate the interests of the aggressor,” she said, adding that the Batkivshchyna faction did not vote for law.
Yulia Tymoshenko said that Ukraine ended up at the negotiating table with the leaders of the so-called LNR/DNR, not with the leaders of the guarantor countries of the Budapest memorandum, and that the President should have demanded such negotiations from those countries.
“The Budapest memorandum is an integral part of international law. Failure to implement it will mean that international law does not work,” said the Head of the Batkivshchyna Party.
