Batkivshchyna Party Leader Yulia Tymoshenko says the Batkivshchyna team will be ready to join a coalition with the Servant of the People and other democratic forces in the next parliament and will propose that their New Course for Ukraine become the basis of the coalition agreement.
“Batkivshchyna is the only political force that has drawn up a step-by-step plan for the revival of Ukraine – the strategic program New Course for Ukraine. We want to form a ‘Coalition of Action’ in the new parliament and build a coalition agreement on the basis of the New Course for Ukraine,” Yulia Tymoshenko said on the program “Evening Prime” on channel 112 Ukraina, answering a question on what terms Batkivshchyna would join a coalition in the new parliament.
The Head of the Party sad that the distribution of posts in the new government is not an issue because the priority task for the new government is to build a “clear direction of movement that will give results to everyone in the near future.”
“No negotiations on posts are being held. And there shouldn’t be! We have to move away from the backroom distribution of portfolios! Elections should be held and then we should talk about how to bring the country out from the crisis – this is most important,” she said.
Yulia Tymoshenko said that the parliamentary race is not only about the election of people’s deputies, but also the new Prime Minister of Ukraine.
“Just as the country elected the President, the parliamentary elections are not only about the election of parliamentary factions, but also the Prime Minister. The party that gets a significant number of votes will be able to propose who should be prime minister,” said the parliamentarian.
The Head of the Party said that if Batkivshchyna does not join the coalition it will not go into opposition and will in every way contribute to the implementation of profound changes and transformations in Ukraine.
“Regardless of the distribution of posts, we will help to ensure that these 5 years are not lost,” Yulia Tymoshenko added.
