Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko says that her team has a step-by-step plan of priority measures to jump start the economy that they are ready to offer to the new President and his team.
“In the coming days I will meet with the President of Ukraine and I want to advise him on what needs to be done urgently,” Yulia Tymoshenko said on the program “Freedom of Speech” on channel ICTV.
According to the politician, one of the major challenges Ukraine faces is stopping inflationary processes and the stagnation of the national economy.
“The first step challenge is that the budget has stopped receiving planned tax revenues and is being filled with the issuance of money by the NBU. This is being concealed, which means that the economy is stagnating and falling,” she warned.
The second challenge faced by the new government is that in September 2019 Ukraine will have to make a big repayment on its external debt, which is now more than $2 billion, but Ukraine does not have a program with the IMF and other world creditors as the country has been “abandoned because everyone is busy with the elections.” The third challenge is the adoption of the State Budget for 2020, which cannot be formed according to the “old rules, traditions and indicators of the former government.”
“If we want action and results, then a joint working group should be set up in the Presidential Administration, the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers in order to break the 5-year tendency of the formation of the State Budget in order to make a budget of development and revival of Ukraine,” said the parliamentarian.
The parliamentarian reminded that a team of specialists led by Batkivshchyna prepared a step-by-step action plan – the New Course for Ukraine – that applies to all sectors of life, the implementation of which will allow to make radical and qualitative changes to improve the living standards of every Ukrainian.
Answering a question about whether Batkivshchyna will work in opposition to the current government if it does not enter a coalition in the new parliament, Yulia Tymoshenko said that “Batkivshchyna will do everything it can in any status.”
“We will not work in the opposition. Perhaps we will not be in the coalition, but we have a real solution to get us out of our current state we can not afford to waste another 5 years… We will help with all our strength, because we must save our country for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren,” Yulia Tymoshenko concluded.
