The Batkivshchyna faction is demanding a special session of the Verkhovna Rada be held to pass a decision to stop bribery of voters by President Poroshenko with money from the state budget.
“We demand an extraordinary session of parliament to pass all the necessary decisions so that special payments from the budget are made after the presidential election,” Batkivshchyna Party Leader Yulia Tymoshenko said during a briefing in the parliament, after Interior Minister Arsen Avakov publicly stated that they had exposed a system whereby President Poroshenko was essentially bribing voters with funds from the state budget of Ukraine.
According to the politician, it involves the monetization of subsidies, pensions supplements and payments from the “Turbota” fund.
“It would be fair if people got all these funds, but only after the presidential election,” she said, adding that Ukrainians are witnessing Poroshenko “distort democratic elections and destroy the country’s democratic structure.”
“Poroshenko is not trying to win the elections, but buy them. Our task is to raise society, power structures – the MIA – engage international observers and diplomatic missions to stop the mass bribery of voters,” she said.
