Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko says her faction is demanding to hear reports in the Verkhovna Rada by acting Minister of Health Ulana Suprun and NABU on the critical situation in the health care sector and has called on parliamentarians to respond appropriately.

“I demand that the Verkhovna Rada hear reports by the acting health minister and NABU on the situation concerning the destruction of the health and lives of people in Ukraine,” Yulia Tymoshenko said today while addressing parliament.

The parliamentarian stressed that the Batkivshchyna faction is concerned by the report of the Accounting Chamber on the state of public procurement of medicines, according to which Ukraine made full prepayment but medicines were not supplied for 20 months.

“Why was there no reaction to the report by the Accounting chamber? 400 million hryvnias was spent on drugs for cancer patients but they were destroyed because they expired. Why are we being supplied expired and low-quality drugs? And there has been no reaction by an anti-corruption body,” she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko also stressed that her faction is concerned by the Accounting Chamber’s warning about the lack of state control over the quality of drugs coming to Ukraine.

“Clinical trials are being held in Ukraine, and why don’t Ukrainians know that we are being used for clinical experiments without our knowledge?” she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko said that the report was sent to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention but that the Verkhovna Rada should also provide an assessment of the situation.

“Leaders of parliamentary factions are speaking in parliament about pressing issues, but there is nobody to listen: the speaker is absent, the deputy speaker is absent, two-third of the hall is empty. We are talking about important things but there is no reaction. Why are we making these statements if there is no reaction to them?” the politician said to those present.
