Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko says their faction in the new parliament will protect the interests of the people and will support those steps by the president aimed at doing the same.
“The Batkivshchyna faction will not go into opposition. We will work outside the majority and are ready to support all initiatives of the President and his team that will give development to the state and improve people’s lives. At the same time, we will carefully monitor every step of the new government. And we will not allow the reversal of the pro-European course – neither in terms of sovereignty, nor in terms of human rights and social standards,” Yulia Tymoshenko said on Thursday in the Verkhovna Rada.
The politician also said that her faction of will consider all initiatives by the new government through the prism of the interests of ordinary people. Batkivshchyna deputies will defend national property, agricultural land, fight corruption and poverty.
The party leader stressed that “preservation” of the economy and poverty are unacceptable.
“We will closely monitor the manifestations of lobbying and corruption and will do our utmost to hold corruptioneers accountable,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.
The Batkivshchyna leader said that peace is a priority and should not be achieved through surrender, but on the basis of national interests.
