Head of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko took part in the 66th National Prayer Breakfast, which was attended by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“The world today is facing great challenges and threats: the revision of the world’s stability and the threat of new global confrontation, violation of international law and standards, and also military aggression which targets neighboring countries. And what’s worse is cynicism, and lying, and corruption, and those are the things that we are facing today. My country has experienced this cruelty and aggression. Our country bleeds defending our own land. Instead of young people going to universities and pursuing their studies, they have to take up weapons and lay their lives down for something that is theirs, to oppose the dirty, aggressive ambitions of others. This cannot be under true leadership,” Yulia Tymoshenko said in her speech.
“I want to thank all the democratic people and all the democratic countries that came to our rescue and came to our side. And I believe that we can bring peace to Ukraine, and that we can become an independent, strong and free nation. And I would like to assure you that such aggression, policy of violence and hatred have no future, such leaders are just survivals of the past, and they will disappear together when hatred and war end. And those leaders will be replaced with leaders who know what it is like to love and to forgive, and to respect others. To be a leaders means to have a desire to serve, but not to dominate and to take profit at the hardships of your own people,” the politician added.
The 66th National Prayer Breakfast was held on February 8 in Washington, DC. It was attended by more than 3,800 political, religious and public figures from more than 130 countries, including a delegation from the Batkivshchyna Party.
