Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has met ambassadors of European countries and the European Union Ambassador to Ukraine Hugues Mingarell to discuss the socio-economic situation in Ukraine, cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, and the Batkivshchyna Party’s strategic program “A New Course for Ukraine.”
“Before the start of the election campaign in Ukraine all political parties should present the public with a step-by-step plan of what they intend to do after the elections. Batkivshchyna proposed to openly and publicly develop together a strategic plan for our country – “A New Course for Ukraine.” This is the only way we can overcome the crisis and build a prosperous state,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.
The politician informed the ambassadors of the Batkivshchyna Party’s initiative to develop this strategic program together with experts, representatives of civil society and business. She also presented her vision of a new Constitution that could be adopted by referendum after the presidential election.
The politician stressed that the current problems in the country are the result of weak governance, non-functioning of state institutions, corruption and duplication of many government functions.
They also discussed the situation in East Ukraine and issues related to the annexation of Crimea. Yulia Tymoshenko thanked the EU for its support and stressed the need to continue sanctions against Russia as the aggressor country to bring peace to Ukraine to return occupied Donbas and annexed Crimea to Ukraine.
