Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has met with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission to Ukraine, Ambassador Alain Aeschlimann, to discuss humanitarian issues and the rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons and citizens of Ukraine living in occupied parts of the Donbas.
“We are very grateful to the Red Cross for the work they do in East Ukraine. You are helping tens of thousands of Ukrainians who have been affected by the humanitarian catastrophe,” Yulia Tymoshenko said during her meeting with Alain Aeschlimann.
The politician also thanked those international organizations that are helping ease the lives of Ukrainian citizens in Donbas under difficult conditions.
“We believe that our state institutions aren’t doing everything they should in this situation,” the Batkivshchyna leader said.
Alain Aeschlimann spoke about the work of the ICRC in helping to search for the missing, and providing food, medical care, water and heating supply to private individuals and communal infrastructure, such as schools and hospitals.
“We are trying to do everything possible to help people who are in a difficult position,” Alain Aeschlimann said.
