Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko met with US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker.
The parties discussed the situation in Ukraine, in particular, the results of the early parliamentary elections, the potential for reform, the fight against corruption, as well as bilateral cooperation between the United States and Ukraine.
Yulia Tymoshenko informed Kurt Volker about her party’s reform plan – 8 bills in 100 hours.
The plan includes the adoption of bills on deoffshorization, which will allow Ukraine to obtain funds for development, eliminate the shadow economy and corruption, the adoption of a new Tax Code to reduce pressure on small and medium-sized businesses and stimulate the economy, and the adoption of a law removing the period of limitation on crimes for profit in war.
They also discussed military aggression by Russia in the East of Ukraine, possible ways of ending the war and establishing peace in Donbas.
Yulia Tymoshenko thanked the United States for helping Ukraine and called on the democratic world to intensify its efforts to resolve the conflict in Donbas as soon as possible.
The Batkivshchyna leader also stressed the importance of maintaining sanctions against Russia until the war in Donbas ends and Crimea is returned to Ukraine.
“I thank you for all your efforts to establish peace in our country. We appreciate it very much. Only together will we be able to overcome Russian aggression,” said Yulia Tymoshenko.
Kurt Volker said that the US supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and will continue to make efforts to establish peace in the East.
The meeting was also attended by US Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador William Taylor and Vice Chairman of the Batkivshchyna Party, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Building, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Serhiy Vlasenko.
