Batkivshchyna Party Leader Yulia Tymoshenko met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky today to discuss the snap parliamentary elections, the situation in Ukraine and the need to urgently change people’s lives for the better.
“I just met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in his Administration. We discussed the situation in Ukraine, the early parliamentary elections, and how to implement that changes that people expect from the new authorities,” Yulia Tymoshenko wrote on Facebook YuliaTymoshenko.
On the program “Evening Prime” on channel 112 Ukraina, the politician provided details of the meeting.
“Today I met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The purpose of our meeting was to discuss the fact that the snap parliamentary elections must take place, because the threat exists that they will be canceled,” she said, responding to a question about the specifics of their meeting.
Yulia Tymoshenko said that the Constitutional Court is considering an appeal by MPs regarding the constitutionality of President Zelensky’s decree on holding early parliamentary elections and that the judges are subject to a “rather motivated external influence” aimed at preventing the early election of a new parliament.
“The Constitutional Court must not be allowed to disrupt the holding of snap parliamentary elections. If this happens, their decision will be unlawful, unconstitutional, politically motivated and corrupt,” she said.
She said they also discussed the elections in constituencies and the need to prevent political revenge by the old team.
“Three parties – Servant of the People, Batkivshchyna and Holos – should unite and nominate a single candidate to prevent the corrupt monsters of the Poroshenko regime from winning those constituencies through bribery,” said the parliamentarian.
The Head of the Batkivshchyna Party added that while the elections were the main subject of their discussion, they also spoke about changes that need to be made in the country.
“The Batkivshchyna team believes that the window of opportunity and chance for the country cannot be lost. I also told the President that Batkivshchyna will work with him to make sure that the next five years are successful for Ukraine and so that every person feels a result. This is what we discussed,” she said.
“We agree on the snap elections and negative transformations in the economy and social sectors. I felt that the time I had with the President I should dedicate to important steps that need to be taken so that the elections are not disrupted and we do not lose these opportunities for real changes and results for people,” said the parliamentarian.
